The best way to figure out what keywords you want to focus on is to look at the keywords your competitors are focusing on. Essentially Google needs you to properly communicate what your website is offering to the user and the job of the analysts is to assess what your goal is for your website. We subconsciously look for relevancy clues in the title and snippet once we’ve paused on a result. When you write content that gets your audience excited, you’re more likely to accumulate social shares and links. But if you’re after links, you need to create content for people who are actually able to give you links.

SEO is about getting visitors, it is not about getting rankings

Don't use any shady tactics that will get you into hot water like sneaky redirects, content cloaking, and so on. Over the past few years the way we use search engines have changed. We no longer just type words into search engines, we can speak to our phones and search by asking questions, or we can use smart assistants on devices such as Google Home to answer queries for us. In the past you could use search engine submission software, but Google now prevents this – and prevents spammers bombarding it with new sites – by using a CAPTCHA, a challenge-response test to determine whether the user is human, on its Add URL page. The content on your blog or website is the digital salesperson in the organization, and should follow the same brand values and guidelines. Bait influencers to share your stuff

To keep it simple you can use a link shortener that 301s such as bit.ly, or if you want to spend a little more time you can set up your own site and 301 the traffic from a certain page to your money site. Tutorials and top-ten list articles are a couple of good examples of the types of posts that have great potential for getting backlinks from other websites as references. Analysing a competitor’s recurring backlinks will quickly give you a feel for their regular content promotion strategy, and an invaluable insight into their ‘inner circle’ of sharers/linkers. According to SEO Consultant, Gaz Hall: "A greater number of people will stick to voice search, so SEO specialists will have to adjust to this relatively new type of search."

Is your content marketing strategy consistent with your traffic and conversion goal?

With the likes of Google Analytics and other tracking software, it can be much easier to measure the reach and success of your local SEO efforts than it is to measure the success of non-digital marketing methods.
